Ness County is seeking a dedicated Assistant Supervisor of County Road and Landfill to join our Public Works Department. The Assistant Supervisor oversees all Road and Bridge employees in the absence of the County Road Supervisor. The Assistant Supervisor will oversee the maintenance and construction of all bridges, supervise the equipment operators, and supervise the operators of the heavy-duty machinery and trucks in the absence of the Road Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
· Acts as supervisor in charge in the absence of the Road and Landfill Supervisor.
· Supervises crews and landfill staff daily to ensure quality work is being completed in a safe, effective manner.
· Operates a variety of trucks and heavy equipment (such as motor grader, dump truck, semi-truck, backhoe, loader, dozer) to construct, repair, and maintain roads, bridges, culverts, properties, and structures in the County in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
· Assists Road Supervisor with overseeing the construction and maintenance of all new and old bridges and roads worked by county personnel.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; advanced training or technical certifications in public works, construction, or environmental services preferred
· Minimum of 2years of experience in road maintenance, landfill operations, or similar field
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license: CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required
